Fantasy Football 2013: Week 10 Sleepers

If it’s not win or cry time in fantasy football, then we’re only getting closer.

Now that we’re into Week 10, getting those crucial points from sleepers only has a greater impact on whether you’re setting the lineup in the postseason. To that end, let’s cut the chatter and get to this week’s fantasy football sleepers.

Carson Palmer: QB, Arizona Cardinals (vs. Houston Texans)

Carson Palmer

Houston’s defense remains in dire straits. And after blowing a solid lead over the Colts, this gives more appeal to veteran Carson Palmer of Arizona this week. Plus the Cardinals are hosting the Texans, and the Cards play pretty sound football when at home.

Palmer does have more interceptions than touchdowns this season, he does sport a 61.3 completion percentage and is coming off a strong performance against Atlanta. Factor in Larry Fitzgerald and dynamic running back Andre Ellington, and Palmer is a nice start in two quarterback leagues or if you need a backup starter.

Eddie Royal: WR, San Diego Chargers (vs. Denver Broncos)

Despite allotting just 56 receiving yards in Sunday’s loss to Washington, Eddie Royal did score a touchdown and caught four passes. As for his Week 10 matchup, Royal and co. host the Denver Broncos, who rank 32nd in pass defense.

As a result, expect a nice day for Royal against his former team. Denver gives up far too many big plays and yards after the catch. Philip Rivers is having a much better season than he did last year, and Royal’s production will remain solid.

Carolina Panthers Defense (at San Francisco 49ers)

Don’t sleep on the Panthers’ defense at San Francisco. The 49ers aren’t pass-heavy, which only plays to Carolina’s advantage. The Cats rank second against the run and allow a mere 3.7 yards per attempt. Plus they have given up just two rushing scores all year.

As for pass coverage, Carolina ranks 10th, has 12 interceptions to only seven passing touchdowns allowed, and limited Seattle to 12 points in Week 1. Yes, that was nine weeks ago, but Seattle smashed the ‘Niners at home and Carolina’s defense has mimicked the Seahawks rather well in 2013.
